Q & A with Brook and Yvette

Good Morning From Kailua! A few of the questions we hear most often — about where we started, what goes into our formulas, and why we make things the way we do.

How did Lanikai Bath and Body begin? 
Lanikai was founded by Brook Gramann and Gloria Garvey—best friends, Kailua residents and longtime business partners in The Brand Strategy Group. Today, Brook and her cousin Yvette LaRue carry the business forward. Through it all, Lanikai has remained a family business with deep roots on Oʻahu's Windward Side.

What makes your ingredients special?
We choose ingredients for what they bring to the product. Depending on the formula, you'll find botanicals and natural ingredients such as kukui and macadamia nut oils, papaya and pineapple, aloe vera, sunflower and grapeseed oils, awapuhi, sea kelp, green tea, chamomile and vitamin E.

Are your products natural? 
Natural ingredients have been at the heart of Lanikai from the beginning. Our formulas feature plant oils, botanical extracts, sea salts and other naturally derived ingredients, with organic ingredients used where appropriate.

What about your fragrances?
Fragrance is one of the things we care about most. We select high-quality fragrances that capture Hawaiʻi's flowers and tropical scents as beautifully and authentically as possible. We also use pure essential oils in many of our products.

Are Lanikai products comparable to luxury bath & body brands?
We believe so. We put our resources into what matters: thoughtful formulas, quality ingredients, beautiful fragrances and the experience of using the product. To us, luxury is about quality and craftsmanship—not simply a high price tag.

Then why aren't your prices as high as some luxury brands? Because we believe beautiful everyday products should be accessible. Rather than adding unnecessary luxury markups, we price our products thoughtfully and fairly. Exceptional quality at an accessible price has always been part of who we are.

What does Lanikai mean to the brand?
Kailua is home. The ocean, botanicals, relaxed pace and natural beauty of the Windward Side continue to shape who we are. Our goal is simple: to bring a little of Kailua into everyday life.
